Ethan review!

Monday, September 11th, 2017

Serena Yates from Rainbow Book Reviews has read True: Ethan and had a lot of awesome things to say. One such bit of awesome:

“I think it’s an amazing feat to put this much worldbuilding and character development in such a short book, and as a result it felt longer than its number of pages.”

Sirius from Dear Author granted Want Me a Recommended Read, saying “I think this is one of the most unusual books that I have ever read in the mm genre, and I highly recommend it, but you should be sure that you are up for reading a dark story.” How cool is that? You can read the rest of the review here.

Another Just Perfect review

just perfect cover image

Check out the great review Elisa Rolle wrote for Just Perfect: http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/1576270.html.

My favorite line is “I’m pretty sure some readers will find questionable most of Cody and Draven’s behaviour, but if you are used to Rowan McBride’s stories, you are already accustomed to them.”  XD

Just Perfect story review

Wednesday, April 4th, 2012

The first official review for Just Perfect is in! Serena Yates, of QMO Books, wrote “The characters and their roles are flipped around, turned inside out and any preconception you may have had will go out the window when you read this. … This is definitely a book worth reading for its lack of conventionalism alone.”click the pic to visit the book's Torquere page

Pretty snazzy, yeah? She said a lot of other great things, which you can read at QMOBooks.com.

Reader reviews are also filtering in, but I don’t know what the protocol is on quoting those so I won’t post any here. Last I checked, the ratings on GoodReads have been across the board, resulting in a weird, perfect aggregate rating dead center at 3 stars. I’ve never had that before. Usually, the majority either likes or dislikes my book, so the rating is either over 3 or under it.

Another interesting thing I noticed was that a lot of readers felt Cody was cold and Just Perfect was generally unromantic, while many readers of One Good Year believe the story was too sentimental and overly romantic. So my advice to you is to read both stories simultaneously in order to achieve perfect balance. 😉

That’s it for the Zen of Rowan.

Have a good week!

Reviews!

Still settling in from Yaoi-Con. Somewhere in between me realizing I don’t have enough shelf space for my new manga and me realizing I don’t have enough wall space for my new art, I got a couple of sweet reviews:

Lone Cover -- Click here to learn more about the story

Boylove Addict wrote that “This book is literally going right into my keeper shelf.” They said some other great stuff, too, and you can read the full review at:

http://boylove-addict.livejournal.com/58769.html

You can also learn more about Lone (as well as read an excerpt) on my site.

Paul's Dream Cover -- Click here to learn more about the story

Paul’s Dream left Serena Yates at Queer Magazine Online “totally breathless,” and I’m stoked over that. She also used words like “amazing,” “engaging,” and “evil.” I probably shouldn’t be *as* stoked over that last one, but hell, drawing up a no-holds barred villain was surprisingly difficult.

To read all of this review, go to http://www.queermagazineonline.com

And of course you can check out more Paul’s Dream stuff on my site.

I think jetting off to San Francisco did me good. Wrote 2700 words yesterday and plan to write tonight. Hoping this means I’m slipping back into a good groove.

Bitten by Books wrote that “One Shot is by far one of the best romantic eroticas that I have ever read.” They also said a lot of other great things about the story, and you can read the full review at:

And you can learn more about One Shot (as well as read an excerpt) on my site. 😀

Wow, time for a belated happy dance. :)

I’m siked and honored to be at number one. You guys rock.

Lone also made it as high as the number four slot on All Romance eBooks. I took screencaps of both, and will be putting those up on my website as soon as I get a chance, because I’m a geek that way. Sigh.

Cherry on top? Received a review from Fallen Angel Reviews a few days ago. They gave Lone a Recommended Read. 🙂

All this warrants a happy dance, right? I think so too:

Lone reviews!

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Been getting reviews from Lone. Responses have been interesting:

  • Elisa cried.
  • Emerald Jaguar hated Seth.
  • I’m not sure whether Critter Nymph actually shed tears or not, but the reviewer recommended a box of tissues.

All in all, the responses have been good. A special thanks to all the readers who dropped me a note once they’d finished the book. I’m always a wreck right after a book release, and hearing from you guys definitely relieved a lot of that stress. 🙂

PS– The print edition of Lone is now available. You can pick up both editions at Amber Allure.

I Came Home to Such Cool Stuff!

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

Note: This blog was originally published on my MySpace blog, July 29, 2008.

So I’m back from a vacation I neglected to announce I was leaving for. Although I’d known I was going to Florida for quite some time, the trip still took me by surprise. I had an e-loop chat July 4th, the release of Warm Rush: Chasing Winter on July 6th, then my plane taking off the morning of July 9th. I ended up making a whirlwind attempt at promotion right up until the 8th, at which point I sat down and tried to figure out how I would transport my Giant Pocky on the plane without smashing it to pieces.

Pocky arrived safely. Vacation rocked. I watched a busload of anime and managed to squeeze in a mini Tetris tournament. I also met a lot of new friends and got to know a good friend even better. When I look back on the past two weeks, it still seems like one massive, blurry day, which I suppose is proof of a great time.

Now I’m home, still catching up on emails (if you’ve written me and I haven’t responded, that’s most likely why). Settling back into my life is bringing a smile to my face. A lot of good stuff happened while I was gone. A fan floored me by gifting me with a three month subscription to DeviantArt. Chasing Winter has been released in print, and it’s received a 4/5 star review from Rainbow Reviews.

The best thing is that I’m itching to write. I’d been a little burned out for, oh, a couple months at least. But now I’m wanting to get back to my alien sex slaves, my smart mouthed wizards, my Shadow Guards, my comic book geeks. The list goes on and on, and I’m raring to go. 🙂

Let’s see if I can finish a new story by the end of the year, yeah?

Get the print version of Warm Rush: Chasing Winter here.

Read my new review for the story at Rainbow Reviews.

Oh! I sorta forgot I had a Warm Rush store. I hadn’t known that Café Press jacked up the prices on my stuff, so I knocked a few dollars off each item to make them easier to pick up. It’s a lot of fun—you can get the t-shirts featured in the stories! So if you’d like the browse to Warm Rush online store, go to: http://www.cafepress.com/WarmRush.

Everyone have a great week!
