I just finished chapter 13 and really liked the story. Will there be more ? Please ?

  2. Tamarrion says:

Aww, it’s one of my favorite stories of yours. I hope you’ll write more of it – ’cause one chapter once in 6 or 7 months it’s cruel-cruel-cruel ^_^

  3. @kawol – Yep, I do plan to post more. I’m glad you enjoyed the first 13!

    @Tamarrion – lol, I get that a lot. XD

    • Lisa says:

Somehow I only just heard about this story. Read it all today and absolutely LOVED it!
It’s been a decade (lol), but I would pay to read the book. Please❣️

Yes! Chapter 14 is here, haha πŸ˜€
I’m curious about this Sasori Earther. I’m really waiting for the next chapter πŸ™‚ This is one of my favorite stories as well.

  5. K says:

I know this is going to sound strange, but I am worried about the Earthers eating Jascian food. The last time I read a sci-fi story where a similar thing happened, it was the beginning of the end πŸ™

  6. @Anon – Chapter 14 was interesting. It went in a few directions I hadn’t quite planned on, but I like this direction so it’s all good.

@K – I’ve read stories like that too. Mostly to do with the faerie realm, though.

    I guess I’ll be Anonymous #2

Great new chapter! I like how you’re casually throwing in hints about the mystery of the second transformation without actually giving anything away.

I was also pleased that Lucas’ toy was finally mentioned. I was wondering where he was and whether Lucas even had time to feed him, what with all the time he spends with Jovin! πŸ˜‰ It’s a good thing that Blake is there to worry about these things.

Can’t wait for the next chapter, I love this story! But then again I love all your stories

  8. Novelty says:

I have to say I was blown away by the story. I started reading Chapter 1 at about midnight and didn’t go to bed until 3 hours later when I finished Chapter 14. I can’t wait for more.

One thing to point out though – Blake met Jack’s penknife/scissors when he sutured him up, so he shouldn’t be that surprised by the scissors in Chapter 14…

Other than that it’s good, and I want to know more about the poor Japanese dude, and what’s gonna happen to the Lucas triangle!

  9. @Anon2 – I feel bad for Sasori but at the same time I’m a fan of the Lucas/Jovin pairing. lol.

@Novelty – Ouch. Yeah, that’s definitely a plot hole. I think I patched it– Thanks for the heads up!

Oddly enough, I had glanced at the story a few weeks before the new chapter and was sad, fearing you’d abandoned the series… and was happy to see it updated later! Still very much enjoy the story and the characters.

    Much love.

  11. fingrfethr says:

I just stumbled onto this story and couldn’t stop reading until I got to the end of what you’ve posted so far. I’m hooked on the story and the characters and the skill of your writing. Please don’t wait too long before giving us more of this tale – and please don’t let it remain unfinished. Bravo!!

Rowan, I love this story to death. I was just looking for the site for new updates and it was a definite treat to find this particular story updated πŸ™‚
I hope we don’t have to wait long for the next installment because the depth and effort you put into these stories are truly amazing. <3

  13. Anonymous says:

hi Rowan: thanks for the latest install on this story. looovvveee it! i’ve devoured all your published works except for the non-e books and of course your out of print ones (a very sad face on right now). so your short stories are little gems of wonderment that’s kept me going — i am hoping (fervently!) that you will turn them into full blown stories for publication. pleeaassseee write another installment! need the rowan fix!

  14. Novelty says:

I reread Chapter 14 again because there wasn’t anything new… I hope it won’t be too soon until we get the next chapter…

Everytime I read a new chapter of Jascian’s toy, I always end up aggravated. Blake and I think along the same lines so I relate well to the character, but I’m more of a bitch and would definitely be fighting the culture for some major changes on how people were treated. Sorry, I had to rant just a bit. >_>

But I’m glad we know about Gavin’s parents now! I honestly would love to see Blake escape and go back to Earth. It would be extremely interesting to see what happened. I have a feeling the plot is about to dive into some action.

  16. when do you usually update?

  17. mcsc2008 says:

I very recently got your promo disc through the Goodreads M/M Romance group. I read chapter one of One Good Hand and then followed a couple of links and ended up on your series page. The Jascian’s Toy caught my eye. I’m so glad that it did. I was enamored of not only Blake but Gavin. I adore is treatment of Blake. It seems that he’s always been in love with Blake and is learning what it’s like to love and respect someone of a different class. I can’t wait to see the way things play out.

I’m with a few others who like Lucas and Jovin together, but I’m crushed for Sasori. Like it’s not enough to be taken from Earth to become a sexual plaything then to be all but abandoned even if it is partially by one’s own choice.

I do wonder a few things like: What happens if a chosen Earther dies or is severely injured before s/he is taken? What happens if it occurs after the Jascian has seen the picture or started watching his Earther? What is the age of most of the Earthers when they are taken? Are only homosexual or bisexual Earthers selected? It would seem to be necessary given the transition expectations. Is Lucas seemingly more devoted to Jovin because of a bond formed during Lucas’s transition.

Feel free to ignore my ramblings. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for the deliciously different story. I await more, and more, and more.

  18. @Anon – Thanks for the love. πŸ™‚

@fingrfethr – Don’t worry: I do plan to finish this story. It might take a while, but thank you for your kind words. It’s always cool to have encouragement.

@Anon#4 – I’m hoping to write another installment soon as well, but my schedule’s been crazy lately. Keep your fingers crossed.

@Anon#5 – haha. While I don’t plan to publish The Jascian’s Toy, I definitely plan to finish it. Should be good stuff. I hope.

As for the out of print stories: working on that now.

@Novelty – Sorry, sometimes it can be a while between installments. I’ll do the best I can, k?

@Anon – lol. You are actually not the first person to mention aggravation over this story to me.

    @Magican of Fortuna – There’s no set schedule, I’m afraid. Sorry. πŸ™

@mcsc2008 – Glad you got the disc! Thank you for taking the time to check out Jascian, and thank you for enjoying it. I do happen to know the answers to your questions, but I’m not yet sure if they’ll be worked into the story so I can’t answer them here. πŸ˜‰

Oh my god! This story is so good and the idea is so original. I haven’t seen something so inspiring in a long time. It was sheer hotness. I started reading and just couldn’t stop even though I have an exam coming up. I really love this and this story will be on my favourite list for all time. The characters were real and refreshing, the grammar impeccable and just overall perfect. I really hope you continue to update this because I’d really like to see it finished. I just love this story. Thanks so much for posting it.

  24. @Anon, @julie, and @karen – Could be a bit, but totally plan on finishing this story. *Hoping* to get the next installment out around the new year. πŸ™‚

@writeaddict – lol. I hope you came out of your exam okay. XD

The only thing better than a good art is is an artist that makes you want to return and do your best at crafts of your own. Rowan, this story has just been so comforting over the past few weeks. You have a such a fine sense of the many forces and dark secrets that make up a society. I’ve abandoned a story that I started a couple years ago but I’ve learned from this story (your first) just how helpful a strong, well-defined ( no pun intended) character can be. Thanks for this and all your stories.

  26. MEKA says:

this is my third time reading this part. I still enjoy the story. Please dont give up on Blake and Gavin. Oh and Lucas and Jovin. I want to know what is so special about the second transition and why they cant see those Alphas. This story is my second favorite of all of your stories.

  28. @Ydt81 – Sometimes I wonder if the first story I ever wrote will be the best thing I ever write. The thought should be depressing, but honestly speaking, if my first turns out to be my best, I’m glad my first was Jascian.

I also know that I’ll never fall out of love with writing, and I hope that your comment means that you’re writing again. πŸ™‚

@MEKA – Definitely not giving up on Blake and Gavin. I’m hoping to finish Jascian this year! W00t!

  29. alton says:

yay! im so glad to hear you havent given up on this story, i too have re-read this chapter about 4 times, the whole story about 3 times! I’m always coming on here to see if there are any updates then finding myself reading it over again, it makes me smile the relationships between blake and gavin, also thinking about the size differences give me a thrill…
anyway please do continue writing soon, i cant wait to read more! you’ve done amazing so far.

  30. @alton – Words cannot express how much I love size differences. πŸ™‚

I’ve been in love with The Jascian’s Toy for a couple of years now. I must say every chapter has me checking in looking for more. I can’t wait to read more : )

  33. @Jamilla Robinson – Weirdness is one of my specialties. πŸ˜‰

@lyanna – lol. Sometimes I forget how long I’ve been working on this story. But I do love writing it. πŸ™‚

  34. Dymondbolt says:

I have this song running through my head each time I look for another chapter of your wonderful story. It’s from the Musical “A Little Night Music”. It’s the first one that gets sung…
    Soon
    Soon I promise,
    Soon I won’t shy away…

I know that the stories that help pay the bills should come first.
And I am so jazzed that I know someone who has become a published author.
But I still hear that song in my head
and hope each time the song changes to…
    Now.

so i just finished reading everything thats up and im all ready ripping my hair out waiting for the next part. This really is a amazing story and im so happy a friend showed it to me

  36. AgoraEmily says:

I love this story. The characterization, plot and science fiction elements are all well thought out and interesting.

Out of curiosity, how can Blake ever know if he really loves Gavin or is just being manipulated by him via his captor’s advanced technology? Moreover, won’t Blake always be a prime target for Stockholm syndrome?

Thank you for all your hard work. Creative juices don’t always flow that easily.

  37. Anonymous says:

I just read the latest chapter of Jascian Toy & it was SO good! So of course I had to read it all again from chapter one to current. I’ve read all your published stories (Lone) is my favorite, but this one is right up there. ROWAN IT IS SUCH A GREAT STORY!!! Please tell me (& all the rest of us reading your blog, LOL) that you’re going to write more soon?!

  38. Anonymous says:

great story very realistic characterization of how would someone
“average” would react when he is basically abducted by giant humanoid aliens in a vertical hierarchic society to be an elite’s son’s pet who is basically a good guy but he knows no better when interacting with those he sees as “inferior” and hopelessness of this giant of have fallen in love with his pet in what us equates to fall in love with a guinea pig

  39. Charles Carter says:

I just completed reading the series again. I would love to see another chapter…

    Testing the wp blog…

  42. Napsa says:

Wow, it’s been almost two years since chapter 15. I hope everything’s okey and you are still planning to finish this series. I just read it again and remembered how great it is, absolutely love it!

  43. Ireyon says:

I really liked this story. I hope you’re not going to abandon it.

  44. flamedelft says:

Just stumbled on the 2 chapters that I’ve not seen before (14+15). They were great, I hope you’ll write some more.

  45. Anel Viz says:

I think you’re a great writer. I’m a huge fan from Goodreads but dear God! You’re killing me. I don’t think any of your stories are finished, at least not the stories I’ve started. You’re a great writer but the yearly updates is a huge turn-off. It’s very easy to give up on a story or a writer if it feels like there is no real commitment from the author.

    • Rowan McBride says:

Hi! I’m sorry you feel that way. Have you read “Chains” or “A Picture’s Worth”? Those are two of my short stories and they’re both free. Plus there’s a small collection of flash fiction and poetry in the “Stories” section of my website, Last updated November 2015, and that is free as well.

Also, if you go to the second most recent post on this blog, you’ll find links to deeply discounted copies of “Lone” and “Warm Rush: Chasing Winter.” The publisher of those books is going out of business (not enough readers overall). My book from Torquere Publishing, “Just Perfect,” is now officially out of print (not enough readers of that particular story). Last I checked, it’s still available on Amazon, but it won’t be there for long.

      Hope that helps.

  47. Francis says:

    Hi Rowan,

I read this story way back in 2014 and I am still patiently waiting for the series to continue.

Every month or so, I would find myself re-reading the entire series and I would reach this point- and it’s always a bittersweet moment to get here, and hoping against hope that when I click next, there would be the next story.

So I gathered up my courage finally to tell you how much this series has moved me, and that I do hope you will find the time to continue the story.

Thanks and more power to you.

    Francis

  48. siren125 says:

    Greetings from Brazil, Rowan!

First, I must tell you that I’ve been binge reading all of your work this past week. You are truly an amazing storyteller with a rare sense of balance between all that a story needs: character, pacing, expression, worldbuilding etc. Personally, I believe that the best works are the ones that make you uncomfortable enough to instill questioning. Indeed, yours have been doing a (positive) number to my brain, in spades. Honestly, your characters and their decisions incidentally made me re-evaluate some aspects of interpersonal relationships, expanding my worldwide view. So, I thank you but, at the same time, how dare you make me question my morality?! XD

All in all, is there any prospect of finishing The Jascian’s Toy? This has been one the most joyful stories I’ve ever read.

Two questions that has been plaguing my mind:

—I’m insanely curious to hear about what happens to humans that do not consent to help the transition. I’m aware that humans don’t actually have a choice in the matter; however, from my understanding, they have a few days to acclimatize before the transition.
I theorized that the genetic compatibility may help boost the sexual attraction…
—Are the toys brought to Jascia only for the transition or, not only for that, they are also expected to keep having sexual intercourse with their keepers afterwards?

In advance, I’m sorry if I’m coming off as “backseat writing” your work. It is just that I can’t help my curiosity since the Jascian’s world is, to date, naturally incomplete.

    Kind regards, siren125.

P.S.: Sending a ton of writing mojos to you.

    • Rowan McBride says:

Thank you for your kind words!

Nice! A question about Jascian that I can answer without spoiling the story! Humans have no say about becoming toys. They get kidnapped and can’t go back. They don’t have a say in participating in transitions. There COULD be some leeway because Blake is the only human in the story who got through the whole process. When Jack petered out, Kieric already had backup lined up. Lucas doesn’t even have Satori in the room because he spent his whole time with Jovin. So the toy doesn’t necessarily need to participate. Yes, compatibility % does affect attraction on both sides and that does factor in.

But the second transition? Afraid you’ll have to read to find out because I’ve slowly gotten back to work on it. πŸ˜‰
